In view of the World Darts Federation's decision to cancel the 2023 World Masters Championships, the Welsh Darts Organisation has decided to invite the 96 (64 men / 32 women) County Qualifiers in the afore-mentioned cancelled event to participate in a Welsh Darts Organisation Men's and Women's Members Singles Championship.

These Championship will be held on Saturday 9th September 2023 at the Thomastown Social Club, Kosy Hall, Francis Street, Thomastown, Porth, RCT, CF39 8DS, the date and venue originally allocated for the Wales Finals of the WDF World Masters.

The Total Prize Money for these Members Singles will be as follows:-

MEN = £1,390.00

WOMEN = £1,000.00

I am pleased to announce that the Welsh Darts Organisation Open weekend for 2024 will be held once again at Pontin's Prestatyn, Denbighshire, North Wales. from Thursday 9th May to Sunday 12th May.

Martyn Turner is the 2023 Welsh Open Men's Singles Champion with a 5-3 victiory in the final over Cliff Prior at Pontins Prestatyn. Martyn's average was 76.50 and Cliff's was 71.86.

After winning the Welsh Open Ladies Pairs with Deta Hedman on Friday, the Mixed pairs on Saturday with Taylor Greaves and earlier this evening the Welsh Classic Ladies Singles title, Beau now makes it four, winning the 2023 Welsh Open Ladies Singles Title with a 5-3 victiory over Rhian O'Sullivan in the final at Pontins Prestatyn. Beau's average was 77.45 and Rhian's was 79.90.

Thomas Banks makes it a double, after winning the Welsh Classic Youth tile earlier in the evening Thomas added the 2023 Welsh Open Boys Singles title claiming victiory over Fabian Tapner 4-0 in the final at Pontins Prestatyn. Thomas's average was 74.22 and Fabian's was 57.35.

The Welsh Darts Organisation is saddened to announce the sudden passing of their former Welsh International player Rhian Speed from Wrexham at the age of 58.

Rhian who played her County darts for Clwyd and Gwynedd represented her Country on 18 occasions which saw Wales ladies winning the British International Championships 3 times during that period.

She also won the WDF World and Europe Cup Pairs Championship partnered by the late Sandra Greatbatch for Wales, the World title in the Netherlands 1991 with the pair capturing the Europe crown the following year in Finland, which helped the Wales Women’s team to finish as Europe overall Champions that year.

The WDF World Master was another major title that came her way when she defeated Deta Hedman 3 – 1 in the final held at the Ramada Inn London in 1990.
A great lady and an outstanding darts player.
